Smoking Bandit Productions was born from a shared creative journey that began long before its official founding. Seamus Curley, Trey Kochevar, and Anzen Kennedy first crossed paths in high school, where their mutual passion for theater and cinema ignited countless collaborations. These early experiences laid the foundation for a partnership that would shape their future.
Soon after, life took them in different directions. Trey pursued Acting and Film Studies at the University of Northern Colorado, Seamus honed his expertise in Post-Production at Colorado Film School, as Anzen established himself as a professional chef. As their college years came to an end, Seamus and Trey reunited, driven by a renewed commitment to their craft. Together, they produced a series of short films that showcased their unique creative vision.
In 2021, they took a leap of faith, relocating to Los Angeles to pursue their filmmaking dreams. It was there that they connected with Kyle Gill, a talented gaffer and fellow Colorado Film School alum. Soon after, their longtime friend and collaborator, Anzen Kennedy, joined as Business Manager & Art Director, completing the team.
The concept of Smoking Bandit Productions was conceived during one of our spirited brainstorming sessions, inspired by the cheeky image of a raccoon donning a cowboy hat. This emblem of whimsy encapsulated the essence of our partnership—fearless, imaginative, and brimming with audacious dreams.
