The origins of Smoking Bandit Productions can be traced back to a shared journey that began long before the company’s inception. Seamus Curley, Trey Kochevar, and Anzen Kennedy’s fates intertwined during their high school years, where they discovered a common passion for both theater and cinema. Through countless collaborations, their creative chemistry grew, sowing the seeds of a partnership that would later shape their destinies.
After high school, life took them on separate paths with Trey studying Acting and Film Studies at the University of Northern Colorado and Seamus studying Post-Production at Colorado Film School As college drew to a close, Seamus and Trey found themselves reunited, their shared aspirations stronger than ever. Fueling their creative fire, they embarked on a series of short films that showcased their unique vision.
In 2021, they followed a shared dream, setting foot in the bustling city of Los Angeles. It was here that their paths converged with Kyle Gill, a gifted gaffer whose connection with Seamus from the Colorado Film School solidified their creative union.
Anzen Kennedy, a friend and collaborator from the high school days, joined the fold shortly after, completing the quartet. His entry, as our Business Manager, fortified our creative alliance. United by our distinctive strengths—Seamus’s directorial prowess, Trey’s narrative finesse, Kyle’s mastery of light, and Anzen’s strategic acumen—we embarked on a new chapter.
The concept of Smoking Bandit Productions was conceived during one of our spirited brainstorming sessions, inspired by the cheeky image of a raccoon donning a cowboy hat. This emblem of whimsy encapsulated the essence of our partnership—fearless, imaginative, and brimming with audacious dreams. The company was founded on August 17, 2023 in Los Angeles, California
